The latest innovation from Red Hat  the Starlight is the ultimate scuba diving lightweight torch  they feature several new innovations that place them at the top of the lightweight  range. Comes in 4 versions.

As with the entire range of Red Hat lightweight LED torches, LED’s are impact resistant unlike conventional filament globes, and do not readily attract insects. Energy consumption from LEDs are at a fraction of traditional torches, which translates to much longer battery life. All have double O ring seals and a magnetic switch for superior water resistance.

The new 1 Watt LED is vastly superior to the previous generation of Light Emitting Diode (LED) bulbs, which in comparison would require at least 16 LEDs to output a similar total brightness of between approximately 60,000 and 80,000 Lux. Complimenting the new 1 Watt LED is a well designed outer lens, allowing improved distance and sharper focus of the white light beam.

I have been testing one of the 3WS torches this year and find it almost powerful enough for use as a main torch and amazingly a single set of batteries lasted all summer plus a fortnights holiday and  still going strong.

The difference between the 3W and the 3WS is that the Super version has extra circuitry to provide constant brightness as the battery voltage drops. This means re-chargeable batteries (which are generally a lower voltage) are suitable.  Dependent on batteries an amazing 150 lumens is possible with this torch.

The new 3 Watt LED generating approximately 60 lumens is vastly superior to the previous generation of Light Emitting Diode (LED) bulbs.  Complimenting the new 3 Watt LED is a well designed outer lens, allowing improved distance and sharper focus of the white light beam.

Also built into this 50m  water proof diving torch is a  water tight magnetic switch, which is protected within the polycarbonate casing and is activated by an outer slider ensuring total water tightness and single handed operation.
